Medical Advisor
Dr. Xiaocheng Liu serves as the president of TICH. His concurrent posts are standing director of China Medical Association, standing director of International Exchange Center of The Ministry of Public Health, senior consultant of China Red Cross, international member of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) and visiting scholar to Eisenhower Fellowships and consultant to its International Advisory Council.
Dr. Liu was not satisfied with the comfortable life and successful career in Beijing, because he realized that the current medical system needs to be changed and the supply-demand imbalance for cardiovascular treatment needs to be solved. He decided to carry the experiment on building up a new medical system and model. Therefore, he left from all his posts in CAMS and PUMC and went to TEDA to build and manage TICH in 2001.
Dr. Liu is not only a well-known expert in cardiovascular surgery, but also an efficient administrator. In recognition of his contribution to China’s medical reform, The State Education Commission & The Ministry of Personnel jointly rewarded him “National Distinguished Scientist with Outstanding Contribution Who has Studied in Abroad", The Ministry of Personnel rewarded him “National Young and Middle Aged Scientist with Distinguished Contribution", The State Council entitled him “All China Model Worker", and The Ministry of Public Health granted him “National Outstanding Person in Medicine Who has Studied in Abroad" and “National Outstanding Person in Medicine".
